~ Pretty Labels ~

I did some baking this morning and was going to share that today....

but I got distracted....again!

Instead I thought I'd share some ideas to make your storage and packaging look a bit prettier!

If you follow the link to the Graphics Fairy you will discover she had the BEST images of french labels. Actually that was what I was searching for when I found her blog....and I am SO thankful I did because her posts have inspired me more than I can describe!
This is how I made the labels, first I saved the images I wanted in a file in 'my pictures'. Then I inserted them into a word page and I sized them to how I wanted to print them. I used an A4 label sheet to print on, but I did modify the label sheets first.... (to make my label sheets a vintage style colour I made a strong solution of coffee in a baking tray and dipped the sheets in, one at a time, fully submerging each for a few seconds. Then I dried them in a hot fan forced oven, on another baking tray. The sticker papers then looked aged and old, but not too dark.)
Finally I just printed my label collage sheet that I'd created in word.
After that I cut out the labels (I inked the edges on some) and I was ready to stick them on EVERYTHING!

They looked amazing on the paper mache gift boxes I had ...you can buy these in Spotlight in packs of three in all sorts of different shapes. I added ribbon to some and they looked lovely.

My old jars got a make-over!

I loved this picture, so even though it wasn't a label, I couldn't resist using it.

Now my white button jar just looks so pretty!

So does my jar that stores my chandelier crystals (doesn't everyone have a jar for just that purpose?!)
I cut this label out to shape it and I really liked that effect.

Nothing escaped!.....this is an old wooden box I'd bought at Pricilla's Corner that holds my linen tapes...
It was so easy to do and the result is so effective, even the cellophane biscuit bag looked better with a vintage label....because they are so easy they are perfect for disposable packaging ....
my advice is give it a go!
It's great fun!

~ Goody! Goodies! ~

LOOK! my goodies have arrived ....
just in time for the long weekend!

Mr Tiff puts my parcels on my desk
(probably with a grumpy face ...
but I'm not usually around to see it so...)
I love to find my mail when I get home,
especially as they are always so strikingly packaged like this one from Frog Feathers (Etsy).

I can't wait to pull out my sewing machine!

~ Sweet, Sweet Surprise ~

When I got to work today......who knew I was in for a big surprise?
I looked for messages .....but found a beautifully wrapped package instead...
(messages? what messages? I was immediately distracted....)

I could hardly contain my excitement......I MAY have let out a little girly squeal of delight!
(OK...I actually did.)

I tore at the beautiful package like a kiddie at Christmas! LOOK what I found!
The most divine memory game I ever did see!

The lovely smooth wooden game pieces had my initials on one side ....
and the SWEETEST forest animals on the other side!

What a sweet, sweet surprise to start my day!
I LOVE my little hand made game!
I am both delighted AND inspired!!!!!
Thanks Jac, you are SO clever and you just made my day!!!! X

~ Telephone Table Makeover ~

Eeewwww..... it is NOT a pretty sight... it had been in the shed for SO long I can't even remember where I bought it.... but I do know I did feel it could be beautiful.....

First I unscrewed the seat.

I undercoated it in a rust proof sealer, then I painted it my favourite colour .....Porters Oyster White.

For the top I wanted some BLING ..... so I went for a folkart metallic champagne colour ~ yummy!

Now for the seat ... yes, another fabric transfer from the Graphics Fairy..... how GREAT is that gal?!!!!

I attached it to my fabric with visafix then sewed around the edge.

I sewed and trimmed the corners (inside out not like the picture).

And stapled with my trusty staple gun.... before screwing the seat back in place.

Nice!

I placed some shells and a few of my vintage glass pieces on the table....

Voila!

Although my family questioned the point of a telephone table (you mean lap top table Mum?) I am delighted with it. I think I might rearrange some furniture this weekend so I can put it in the lounge.

~ Sweet Girly Baby Shower Gifts ~

I went to a beautiful, girly baby shower today so I thought I'd share the little gift I prepared........

Firstly, I decided to make a one piece suit like the one I'd seen on Brag Monday.
I printed the image of the vintage birds nest from the Graphics Fairy onto some transfer paper.
(So as not to waste a whole sheet I printed some extra images for other projects on there too.)

I cut it out an ironed it on as per the instructions. Too easy!

SO sweet!

Now the birdie nursery cushion.

First I cut out the bird shapes to my homemade pattern.

Next I ironed on the wings using visafix and I sewed the button eye on.
I top stitched the wings so they would be really secure.

Then I put the right sides together and sewed around the outside, leaving a small gap on a straightish edge. Then I pulled it right side out and ironed the seams carefully.

I sewed around the outside and poked stuffing inside!

I then stitched the gap and I was DONE!

Time for the card & gift bag....

I raided my stash and found some paper & a girly golden book (bought especially for paper craft).
I found some images I liked in the book and ....TORE!
I inked the edges with some Tim Holtz Vintage Paper ink and glued it all down.

So here's my finished gift........

All I needed was some pink alphabet ribbon and a rose and I was done!

Beautiful!!!!

~ I see sea shells ~

With the prospect of a long weekend ahead ....... I'm just taking a moment to be thankful.

I think these shells the children collected looked so pretty on the weathered decking.

Sometimes the smallest things can give the greatest joy.
